Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how rest easy uses cookies and similar browser technologies when you use our website, demo and web application. For information about how we process personal data more generally, please see our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website or use a web application. Websites can also use similar browser technologies, such as local storage, to remember preferences or support particular features.
How rest easy uses cookies and similar technologies
rest easy uses browser storage for two main purposes: strictly necessary functionality and optional analytics.
Strictly necessary functionality
Some cookies and browser technologies are required for the operation, security and functionality of the rest easy service. These include maintaining an authenticated session, keeping users securely signed in, supporting trusted-device functionality, maintaining guided demo state, supporting security and abuse-prevention measures, and enabling service worker and push-notification functionality where those features are used.
Analytics
With your permission, rest easy uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the website, guided demo, and authenticated web application and help us improve them. Google Analytics does not load on any of these services until analytics permission has been granted. If you choose Reject analytics, GA4 remains disabled.
After permission, GA4 may create the _ga cookie and property-specific _ga_* cookies. Their duration depends on the configured Google Analytics settings and browser behaviour. You can read more about Google Analytics in Google’s official cookie guidance.
Your analytics preference
rest easy stores resteasy_cookie_consent in local storage, not as a cookie, to remember whether you granted or denied analytics permission. It prevents us asking for the same choice on every visit. The preference remains in your browser until it is replaced or removed, including if you clear your browser or site data.
This preference controls whether optional Google Analytics functionality is loaded.
Strictly necessary rest easy cookies and storage
Session cookie
rest easy uses the secure PHP session cookie resteasy_session to maintain authenticated application sessions. It is configured with Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite protections.
Trusted-device functionality
resteasy_trusted_device is used where trusted-device functionality is enabled to support secure recognition of a previously trusted device.
Demo state
resteasy_demo_run is used to support the operation and state of guided rest easy demo experiences.
Service worker and push functionality
Where push notifications or related application features are enabled, rest easy may use browser service-worker and push-subscription technologies necessary to provide those features. These technologies are operational and are not used for advertising.
Security and Cloudflare Turnstile
rest easy uses Cloudflare Turnstile on certain public forms to help protect the service from automated abuse, spam and malicious traffic. Turnstile is used for security purposes rather than advertising or behavioural marketing. Cloudflare may process technical information necessary to provide its security service; the exact browser technologies used can depend on Cloudflare's configuration and security mechanisms.
Accepting or rejecting analytics
On a first visit to the public website, you can choose Accept analytics or Reject analytics. Necessary functionality remains available either way. rest easy does not treat scrolling, continuing to browse, inactivity, or simply visiting another page as permission for analytics.
Changing your preference
You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings from the rest easy website, demo or application where that option is available. Opening Cookie settings does not change your existing choice. If you withdraw analytics permission, future analytics collection stops and accessible GA cookies associated with the rest easy domain are removed where technically possible.
You can also remove cookies and local storage through your browser settings.
Where your preference applies
The same analytics preference is used across rest easy web services operating on the same rest easy website origin. This includes the public website, demo and authenticated web application where the shared analytics preference mechanism is available. Google Analytics is only loaded where a valid analytics preference of granted has been stored.
Advertising and marketing cookies
rest easy does not currently use advertising cookies, behavioural advertising cookies, remarketing cookies, or social-media tracking pixels. If that changes, this Cookie Policy and the consent mechanism will be reviewed before those technologies are activated.
Third-party services
Google Analytics
Where analytics permission is granted, rest easy uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to help us understand the use and performance of our web services.
Cloudflare Turnstile
rest easy uses Cloudflare Turnstile for security and abuse prevention on certain forms. These services may process information in accordance with their own privacy and security practices.
Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if the technologies used by rest easy change or if we change how cookies or similar browser technologies are used. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated.
